Welcome to The 2017 Chester International Film Festival, our 31st!

The 2017 has now concluded, but please explore the site to see what you missed.

We were delighted to present this diverse collection of some of the finer films of world cinema in a relaxing and appreciative atmosphere.  This year, we presented films from 15 countries.

After it’s outstanding launch in 2014, we were pleased to again host our Animation Festival alongside this year’s Festival.  We showed the best in international animations following a call for submissions. For this year’s festival, we had 270 entries submitted from 52 countries!  We narrowed this down to the best 12 films. Each night our audience voted, and on the final night – Saturday 11 March – the top rated films, A SINGLE BLADE OF GRASS, and LIGHT SIGHT, went head to head.  A clear majority voted for LIGHT SIGHT, which wins the 2017 Audience Award.  Well done to Seyed M Tabatabaei for this amazing film.

The festival was organised by Chester Film Society. Running since 1970, we have provided an unbroken opportunity for our audiences to experience the best in contemporary cinema. If you are interested in future film events, please visit our Film Society website, www.chesterfilmfans.co.uk.

If you need any help, please get in touch, we will be happy to answer your questions.

Enjoy the Movies!
